Heating & cooling, done for a Zone 3B climate

How to think about heating and cooling in San Angelo

If you’re new to the Concho Valley, here’s the short version: your air conditioner is the appliance that matters. With around 30 days a year over 100°F and roughly 108 days over 90°F, cooling is the load your equipment lives and dies by. Heating matters — we do see nights below freezing, about 50 of them in an average year, and the record low is 1°F — but it’s a secondary season here, not the main event.

That changes the smart order of priorities. First, keep the cooling system clean, correctly charged, and sized to the house. Second, seal and insulate so the cooled air stays inside — the 2021 IECC targets R-38 in the ceiling for our zone, and a lot of older San Angelo homes fall well short. Third, choose efficiency that pays back over a long cooling season: as of January 2023 the Department of Energy set the Southeast-region minimum at 14.3 SEER2 for most new central AC units, and going above the floor makes real financial sense when the compressor runs as many hours as it does here.

Repair, replace, or maintain?

Three different pages, three different jobs. If something is broken right now, start with AC repair. If your system is old, inefficient, or failing repeatedly, installation and heat pumps lay out replacement clearly. And if everything works and you’d like it to stay that way through August, maintenance plans are how you get there. Not sure? Call (325) 308-0897 and describe what’s happening — we’ll tell you which one you actually need.

What working with us actually looks like

Across every service on this page, the way we operate stays the same, because it’s the part people remember. You get a real phone conversation and a clear diagnostic fee before anyone drives out — no mystery pricing that only appears on the invoice. On site, we diagnose the actual problem instead of swapping parts and hoping. And we give you options in plain English, with the honest trade-offs, whether that’s a $180 repair or a conversation about replacement.

We also hold ourselves to a simple content standard you can see for yourself: every climate figure, code reference, and efficiency number on this site is cited to a public, authoritative source at the bottom of the page. We don’t publish invented review counts, fake “years in business” badges, or statistics we can’t back up. In a trade where trust is easy to fake, we’d rather earn it with information you can verify — including our license, which the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation lets you check for any contractor you’re considering.

Residential and commercial, emergency and planned

Our work splits along two axes, and it helps to know where you fall. On one side is the difference between homes and businesses: a house needs comfort and efficiency for a family, while a business needs uptime and often has bigger, harder-working rooftop equipment — different priorities, different approach. On the other side is emergency versus planned work: the no-cool call on a 100° afternoon, versus the tune-up or replacement you schedule on your own terms. We do all four, and the smartest customers use the planned side to shrink the emergency side.

If you’re not sure which page fits your situation, that’s completely normal — most people aren’t HVAC experts, and they shouldn’t have to be. Call (325) 308-0897, describe what’s happening in your own words, and we’ll point you to the right service and give you a straight answer about what it’s likely to involve. There’s no charge for a conversation.
